He obviously wasn’t Stark’s new bodyguard because Tony could take perfect care of himself. But to find some stranger there was weird. But then again it had been three years and Pete had told him that Tony was with them for a while. Tony probably gained some space friends along the way.

Richard motioned to raise a hand in gesture of “I mean no harm.” Which he voiced too. Actually that was kinda of a lie, he did mean harm, but only if the other person struck first.

“I’m Richard, yeah. Friend of Tony’s, whose apartment we’re both in right now.” He said calmly, not wanting to spook the man into firing at him. Richard knew the tell tale signs of when someone was ready to shoot if necessary. “I’m guessing you’re from space? I don’t think that you’ll shoot everyone who came to see Tony right? I hope not.”

He tried to make light of situation, and in hopes to buy time so that he could mentally ask Worldmind for a scan, which he did.

The words pierced Rocket’s ears and ricocheted like shrapnel in his head. I’m Richard. It could all be one astronomical coincidence; the guy could be some sort of doppleganger.

Only, Rocket didn’t believe in coincidence.

He also didn’t believe in resurrection, though, so he wasn’t sure where that left him. Was the man a clone? Surely not. Tony would have known. Tony knew things like that. He was eccentric, self-destructive at times, but he wasn’t an idiot. But the fact remained that this couldn’t be who he looked like, couldn’t be who he said he was, because he…Richard was dead.

“Not everyone who comes to see him,” he said, voice deceptively even. “Just the ones that lie about who they are.” Except he wasn’t sure. He couldn’t be sure. His head was telling him that this couldn’t be Richard, but every sense he had at his disposal was telling him otherwise. It looked like Richard. Sounded like him. It smelled like Richard smelled.

“I’ll ask you again: who are you?” His eyes darkened, and his fingers closed around the grip of his gun. “And why do you look like a dead man?"

"Dude, I’m Richard, Nova Prime. 100%. If you’re talking about the fact that I died, well Pete did kinda die with me but he’s back too so I don’t see a problem. Pete being Peter Quill, Star-Lord.” Richard kept his hand up, unsure of the situation. He wanted to convince the man in front of him he was real and alive, but if he didn’t even know who he was, he couldn’t exactly do that.

“How about this. You tell me who you are and then I can like, tell you something only you know… That is of course if I even know you because I’ve never seen your face before today.” Richard reasoned, hoping to get through the man, and hoping still that the man wasn’t some hostile person that was just trying to find out information about him.

He took a step towards the man, both to calm the man down, and to intercept his gun if necessary. Of course, he could just shoot the man with a couple of energy beams or gravimetric fields, but he didn’t want to either kill him or make him more wary.
