Apparently, it’s not the first time. His father’s heart has been failing. It had first showed itself, reared it’s ugly head at the Rider family two years ago. To think just after a tragedy had struck his family (with his death), and they had to deal with another adversity.
His father was in surgery when he had arrived at the hospital, and they’d played the waiting game while his mother and brother had filled him in the details of his father’s condition. Funny how they didn’t tell him when he’d returned from the dead, funny how it was the same for Peter. Funny how they all didn’t want him to worry, but in the end, ended up worrying even more.
It was hours later, and another day, when his father was out of surgery and stabilised. The doctors advised that they let him rest, and that he was under sedatives.
It hadn’t been a very happy Mother’s Day, what with his Father still in the hospital bed.
But at least he had a mother… Peter immediately went through his mind. He couldn’t believe he made Peter feel like shit the day before what was probably the worst day in Pete’s life.
Two days later and he was still in the hospital. He hadn’t left it since he first entered (except that one time to get a drink, and then some for future use), his mother hadn’t either, despite his protests. Robbie went back once, or twice, for shower and then to get them a fresh set of clothes. Richard looked up to the clock on the wall. It was 6 in the evening, and his father was asleep. He’d managed to get up for a while during the past 32 hours, but it was rather sporadically. Richard swirled the paper cup in his hand, before downing the “Irish Coffee”, there was actually nothing Irish about the whiskey he had poured into the cup, but hey, he was allowed some leeway at a time like this.
He had been debating with wanting to call Peter (who had his own problems) and he figured he let Pete have some time because of his mother…
Christ, he was going to need some liquid courage if he was going to talk to Peter… But he just didn’t know what he’s going to say. He’s scared he’ll hurt Peter more. Knowing how it went down before, the way he left things with Pete… Richard thinks he will. But talking to Peter was better than not talking to him, so he decided and decided to comm his friend, “Hey.” He ran his hand through his hair, wondering if he should add something like ‘I’m ready to talk now’ or 'Can you meet me?’ or 'We should talk’.
