“Tierra, no, don’t—” Rictor groaned, grabbing the leash to pull the dog back to him. She didn’t seem to understand that she couldn’t just jump at everyone she saw and hope for the best. 

He shot the other man an awkward grin, keeping his grip tight on the leash. “Sorry. She’s kind of excitable.” He blinked, trying to figure out if he had ever seen the other man before. He knew most of the people in the neighborhood by face if not by name. 

Richard had landed near a diner and had just crossed the street when a dog had jumped him and almost made him fall backward. He’d laughed, joyous and carefree.

“No, it’s perfectly fine.” He replied as he steadied himself, somehow even if the dog looked nothing like Cosmo, it still reminded Richard of the excitable talking canine.
