“Wha — What?” If the king’s first words surprised Richard, the next question just left him dumbfounded. “Peter? You mean Peter Quill?” Wait, how did J’son know — Blue Blazes, Peter was probably a member of the royal court. He was going to have a few words about this to Peter when they met again. “We’re… we’re best friends and partners… Your Grace.” He’d answered both truthfully and awkwardly.
“Partners?” That was all but confirmation for J’son. “That is all? You have no intentions to marry him?” He practically demanded. Forget being the King meeting a guest, it was now a father meeting the potential son-in-law. “Do you think him not good enough for your hand?!”
What? This just keeps getting better and better. “Erm, I think you might have got it wrong your Majesty. We’re… we’re not in a relationship. Partners as in saving the galaxy partners…” Man, he was making a fool of himself in front of the Spartoi King, who thought that he and Pete were, were together. How weird was that? Not that he didn’t think that Peter wasn’t good enough, on the contrary, if anything it was the other way around, and with the added fact that Peter had royal blood… But, him and Pete? Richard didn’t know how he felt about the whole implication, it was Pete after all…
