The arrival of the shipment made noises that distracted Peter momentarily while he waited for the shopkeeper to show up. The place seemed like a respectable enough establishment. He just hoped that there weren’t any Spartoi spies lurking around.
Soon enough, he heard footsteps coming his way and he turned to look in their direction. At first the shopkeeper—or was it an assistant? He seemed too simply dressed to own the place anyway—busied himself with what stock he was carrying, so Peter took the opportunity to reach into his coat pocket and dig out a piece of paper where he’d written the detailed model and make of the parts that he needed.
“Spartax,” he replied as his eyes moved from the paper in his hand and finally to face the other man. “I think these aren’t easy to come by but—” His voice died the instant his gaze fell on him and his throat went dry as his jaw dropped. “Richie?”
He nodded as the man mentioned the origin of the parts he needed, it seemed like he even had a list. Most of the people who came to the shop was hardly that organised, the worst of the lot was those that didn’t bother with even remembering what the make the parts they needed, they didn’t even have a diagram and they just vaguely gestured at the size and shape of it. How the hell was he supposed to know what it was when there were at least a hundred of parts that were the same size and shape without other identifiers?
Ah, Spartax. They had quite a few on the fourth row at the left of the shop. But the more valuable ones were stored at the back of the shop where he had just came from. Spartax ship parts were hard to come by and second hand parts were more easily acquired than new ones.
"Sorry? What?” Gage stared at the man, who was looking completely stunned and caught off guard. Wait, did he know the man? Was that it? “I’m — Do… do I know you?” Was his name Richie? Did he hear that right? It didn’t sound familiar, he didn’t look familiar. Gage wasn’t going to ask about that in case the man found out about his missing memories and used that against him. It could just be a misunderstanding after all… a case of mistaken identity…
“Yeah, really.” He can’t remember the last time he’d heard Richard sound so naive. It was almost adorable, if it wasn’t...
