He didn’t know what he was expecting when he had come to the auction. Partially anyway. He had been expecting the rich and corrupt of various crime circles. After the rest of the poor souls were sold off— Peter kept track of them, he would get them out and any who were kept in reserve— the centurion was dragged out. He thought maybe it would be some person in a Nova costume of some sort. But it wasn’t.
His first feeling seeing the man on stage was like being punched in the gut. That wasn’t just a Nova Centurion armor— that was the Nova Prime. Was it Richie? He was too far to be certain, but he did know one thing, Richie or not, that was a real Centurion on stage. A pissed off one by the way he was clenching his fists. Peter could see the black chains, some words or runes glowing faintly red on them, probably inhibiting the Nova from using the Nova Force.
There was also a red crystal held by one of the guards, also faintly glowing. Peter figured that was what held the chains power. Probably here for the hand off when the Nova was bought. Gripping his gun, he narrowed his eyes. Peter was a master marksman, and it showed when he drew his gun in one move and shot at the crystal, shattering it and causing the magic chains to become just plain chains.
Turning his sights onto the guards he started shooting, dodging the panicking crowd and heading for the ‘merchandise’ intent on freeing them. Tapping his comm, he tried to broadcast on the Nova’s channel. “Hey, you okay there, Nova? Could use a fist or something here!”
He’d been planning to make a grab for the crystal or some the other schemes if the first option had been unavailable, but it was rendered unnecessary when the crystal shattered. Lost in thought when it happened, he didn’t see what had happened but apparently all hell had broke loose. Gunfire sounded off around the area, guards were going down and retaliating against the unknown assailant, the crowd was in a state of pain.
The spell on the chains had been broken, and Richard could feel the Nova Force bleed back into the forefront of his body. Thank God his body didn’t decompose this time like it had begun to back when he lost the Nova Force. It probably had to do with the fact that it was still in him. He broke the chains with ease, and punched the guard that was about to hold him down with a heavy gravimetric blow.
Richard had been ready to trash the place when a voice through his comm channel stopped him in his tracks. There was not mistake that that was Peter. He’d know that voice anywhere. “Peter? —
More guards entered the surroundings and fired at him. There would be time for questions and answers later. "Yeah, yeah I got your back.” Shock still evident in his voice, but there was a more serious matter at hand. (Relative, because Peter being alive was a serious matter indeed, but it wouldn’t matter if the guards got to either of them.) Richard fired back with beams of energy, knocking out multiple guards, as he dodged gun and laser fire.
He nodded and did as Peter instructed, knowing that his advice was sound. Still, he didn’t completely stop eating, just...
“Hey, slow down a bit Richie. The food’s not going to run away from you.” Peter frowned, concerned for his friend. It...
