The Sun Came Crashing In || Richard (rchardriders) & Peter (shootingstarlord)

shootingstarlord:

The helm of the ship was quiet with everyone else off taking care of problems across the universe. Everyone but him.

It made sense for him to lay low for a while, he knew that, and the guardians could get more done if his father’s men weren’t getting in the way. That didn’t mean that the quiet noise of the ship humming through space wasn’t starting to drive him up the wall by conflicting with the ringing in his ears for attention.

Waiting was never something he was good at. Waiting alone, even less so.

Groaning and spinning around in the Captain’s chair, he gave up on trying to pay attention to the files on the screen. Trying to keep up with the goings on of Earth wasn’t holding his attention. Maybe if he put music on…

                    Proximity alert

Well, that was something. “Details?” he asked, calling the sensors readings to screen in front of the files.

                    Human, Nova signature. Identity unclear.

“Well that’s weird. Visual?” It certainly looked like a Nova. Way too big to be Sam Alexander though, unless the kid got into some crazy Asgardian voodoo time-stream shenanigans and the only other human Nova was-

“I’ll check it out. Ship to autopilot, code: Area51Pecan,” he said pulling on the rest of his uniform and his helmet. Anything was better than sitting around watching the ship.

                    Code accepted.

He grabbed his gun and clipped it to his belt before jumping out of the airlock, never could be too careful. Making his way to the figure slowly, he tried to broadcast his voice over a signal the Nova could pick up. “Hello?”

Richard flew around aimlessly for a while, hoping to fly into something — someone. That or for the User Support System to reboot if it was even possible, or for Worldmind to contact him again. A while was obviously relative, and without anyway of knowing, plus the fact that he was flying at a speed that would have distorted time, it could have been hours for all he knew.

                    [User Support System reboot complete.]

Thank God! Things were finally looking up for the better. He requested a suit and cellular repair with a bonus release of endorphins. He was not addicted to the stimulants, no matter what Worldmind had said, he just needed them to carry on his search for any form of life. Richard was just about to ask it (him?) for a full scan of his surroundings when —

                    [Detecting Incoming Transmission.]

He patched it through his helmet, hopeful, “ — ello?” Richard smiled, it was good to hear a voice again after so long of silence, space could be very lonely. Then again, maybe he would finally get some answers to the whole issue after all. Oddly, or rather, thankfully, the voice sounded strangely familiar and not hostile.

He heaved a sigh of relief, immensely glad, “Hello! Boy am I glad to hear a voice!”
